LAPD SWAT Officers Deliver 2K Toys To Children With Musculoskeletal Conditions

Los Angeles Police Department Special Weapons and Tactics (SWAT) officers Wednesday delivered 2,000 toys to youth patients.

The 20th annual holiday tradition began at 10 a.m. at the Orthopaedic Institute for Children, 403 West Adams Blvd.

Santa Claus arrived at the location in an LAPD helicopter before joining officers in an armored SWAT vehicle.

Every year, the LAPD collects toys in collection boxes at 21 stations from personnel and the public.

Last month, SWAT also invited the community to donate toys in an LAPD Ballistically Engineered Armored Response (B.E.A.R.) vehicle at a "Fill The BEAR" event.

The OIC was founded in 1911 and serves over 60,000 patient visits each year with the focus on musculoskeletal conditions in children.
