LAPPL Endorses Four City Council Candidates

Los Angeles, January 17, 2013 – Today, the Los Angeles Police Protective League (LAPPL) announced its endorsement of the next four candidates for Los Angeles City Council.

After a formal and standardized process, which included questionnaires and interviews by the Delegate Political Action Committee (PAC) and with the committee’s unanimous recommendation, the Board of Directors made its formal endorsement of its next four endorsed and supported candidates. “The interview process was designed to ensure that candidates endorsed by the League share public safety as a top priority and will be able to work together to help create jobs, improve the city and implement practical solutions to everyday problems,” said Tyler Izen, president of the LAPPL.

The LAPPL has studied these races closely and believes the endorsed candidates recognize that the recent gains in public safety have not been accidental but rather have come as a result of years of dedicated work by LAPD officers and adequate public safety funding. The LAPPL joins a growing list of public officials and community leaders endorsing State Assemblymember Bob Blumenfield for Council District 3, Councilmember Paul Koretz for re-election in Council District 5, Former State Assemblymember Felipe Fuentes for Council District 7 and community leader and grassroots activist Mike Bonin for Council District 11.

“The LAPPL is proud to say it strongly supports and endorses these candidates because they respect and understand the important job that the men and women of the LAPD perform each day,” Izen said. “Police protection and the public’s safety in the home, workplace and neighborhood are critical for a prosperous Los Angeles. We take great care in making these endorsements and we believe that these candidates are serious about protecting the public and about making sure that the LAPD has the tools and resources we need to protect our communities.”
