LAPPL Joins Governors In Opposing Prop. 5

The LAPPL participated in a news conference with Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger who today formally opposed Proposition 5 on this November's ballot. The Governor announced his strong opposition to the initiative at a press conference held with current Attorney General and former Governor Jerry Brown, former Governor George Deukmejian, former Governor Pete Wilson and former Governor Gray Davis. All five Governors were joined by law enforcement leaders from across California.

"My first priority has always been public safety and protecting the people. Proposition 5 takes us in the opposite direction and it is a grave threat to public safety. It was written by those who care more about the rights of drug dealers and criminals than the fundamental right of law-abiding citizens to feel safe and secure in their communities," said Governor Schwarzenegger. "Proposition 5 is a risk our communities can't afford and our budget certainly cannot afford it either. So join me and say no to the deception. Say no to drug dealers. Say no to Proposition 5."
