Larry Hanna, Attorney at Law

Attorney at Law, Fullerton & Hanna, LLP

Larry Hanna began working as a sole practitioner trial attorney in June 1985. Since his father retired as a detective from the LAPD in the early 1970s, the LAPD has been near and dear to his heart ever since. Hanna has represented police officers for most of his career. The first police case he worked on was before he passed the bar, working for famed attorney Barry Levin, a retired LAPD officer. They represented the officer who "found" the fake bomb he had hidden on a bus at the 1984 Olympics and were able to get him a great deal with no jail time. In 2000, he and Gary Fullerton began responding to officer-involved shootings and all categorical uses of force for the League.

His expertise is in uses of force and Americans with Disabilities Act law. Since 1990, he has represented many officers with ADA and medical issues, as well as all types of interviews and many boards of rights. Some of these cases appeared hopeless, but they still prevailed. Hanna developed the case up to trial for the four recruits fired from the Academy and then brought in Matt McNicholas, one of the best trial attorneys. They got a judgment of 12 million for the officers. Hanna has argued cases before the state, appellate and federal courts, and has a published appellate opinion that gives officers the right to sue a third party when the police office is physically injured by the other party's fraud. Additionally, he has gotten many officers' gun rights restored through the courts. Throughout his career, he has taken pride in going the extra mile for his clients.
