Police seek suspect in San Pedro killing

Police said Wednesday they are looking for a 30-year-old man suspected in a gang-related killing in San Pedro.

Albert Trujillo fled after allegedly killing Gilbert Rodriguez, 23, in an alley behind the 1100 block of West Gaffey Street on Aug. 1, police said.

The 3:35 a.m. shooting grew out of an argument between the two men.

"As their altercation intensified, Trujillo shot Rodriguez twice in the torso," according to a police press release Wednesday. "The suspect then attempted to leave the location in his vehicle, but collided with a parked truck." Trujillo abandoned his car and ran, police said.

The District Attorney's Office has issued a warrant charging Trujillo with the killing. Police said the motive for the shooting has not been fully established, but it appears to be gang-related.

Anyone with information about Trujillo's whereabouts is asked to call Los Angeles police detectives at 310-522-

2036. Tips also can be made to the department's 24-hour, toll-free number: 877-LAWFULL (529-3855.)
