Statement on LAPD Officer Shot in Line of Duty
Emergency response personnel render aid following an officer-involved shooting in El Segundo early Thursday.

(Los Angeles, CA) — We are thankful that our officer is expected to make a speedy recovery after being shot by a fleeing murder suspect. Today’s incident is a somber reminder that police work is inherently dangerous and deadly. Attacks on law enforcement officers across the country have become increasingly blatant, with officers being killed by gunfire up 15 percent year to date.

Every day, Los Angeles police officers risk their lives to keep our community safe. We are proud of the heroism displayed today by our officer and the other officers from multiple agencies who risked their lives to capture this dangerous suspect and take him off of our streets.
